A thriving and diverse economyHornsby Shire has the largest local economy in northern Sydney. In 2003/04, it accounted for 25% ($7.2 billion) of the gross regional product for northern Sydney and 3.8% of the metropolitan economy. It also had the highest number and proportion (28%) of full time and part time employment in northern Sydney, having experienced a 20% growth between 1991 and 2001 and significant diversification.
