Young Sydney resident Carla Hananiah has won the 2011 Hornsby Art Prize for her ethereal landscape painting My Delight.
“I am interested in capturing a romantic and spiritual landscape with an emphasis on the drama of colour and movement in an ever-changing sky,” said Carla.
The young New Zealand born artist and Sutherland resident has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Masters in Art. She won the prestigious John Coburn Award in the 2011 Blake Prize.

Hundreds of entries from artists across the Shire and Sydney were received for the Hornsby Art Prize, a Council initiative in partnership with the Hornsby Art Society.
Council would like to offer its sincere thanks to everyone who entered the competition and the local businesses, volunteers and sponsors who provided support which made the Hornsby Art Prize possible.
Hornsby Shire Council’s next major art initiative is the ‘Returned To Glory’ Recycled Art Competition. Entries are now open and close on 23 April 2012.
