Council has resolved to call for expressions of interest into additional uses of the Rural Sports Facility (RSF), Bayfield Road, Galston.
The RSF is a sportsground primarily designed for equestrian and canine sports. Since it opened in 2008, it has been primarily used by horse riding clubs on Sundays, with casual use at other times.
Council is particularly interested in further Saturday and midweek use.
Expressions of interest will be received until Friday 24 February 2012.

Council has called for expressions of interest into additional uses of the Rural Sports Facility (RSF), Bayfield Road, Galston (RSF) - UBD Reference Map 112 D5.
The RSF is a sportsground primarily designed for equestrian and canine sports. Since it opened in 2008, it has been primarily used by horse riding clubs on Sundays, with casual use at other times.

Additional uses are not necessarily confined to recreation. Council is particularly interested in further Saturday and midweek use, but expressions may also deal with Sunday use.
The RSF is equipped with on-site parking but parking in nearby streets is restricted.
The ground may be suited to a variety of uses that are permissible in open space zones in the Hornsby Shire Local Environment Plan such as (but not restricted to) additional equestrian activities (including coaching), canine activities and shows, outdoor markets, exhibitions, performances and other sports which may be compatible at a ground used for horse riding.
Interested persons are invited to view the Rural Sports Facility, a public reserve, which is open during daylight hours.

Expressions of interest should include:
- A full description of the additional use proposed including day/s of the week and hours required
- Proposed peak and average numbers of participants in or visitors to the additional use
- Typical demographic profile of proposed participants including age, gender, location and any other demographic information
- Any environmental impact of the proposed additional use including noise, traffic, waste, wear on the existing RSF, disruption to existing users and visual impact and how these would be managed
- Whether any alteration to the existing facilities at the RSF would be required and if so, provide a full description including cost and proposed means of funding
- Benefit to the community of the proposed additional use and cost of participation
- Whether the additional use is for private profit or not
- Details of proposed sponsorship and how sponsors would be acknowledged or rewarded
- Previous experience of the proponent/s in operating the proposed additional use (or similar) elsewhere
- Commitment to full public liability insurance by the proponent of the additional use
